Size: 260 x 340 mm (10.25 x 13.25 in.) 105 pages, Hardcover .

This work of the noted iconografer, Vladislav Andrejev, is a rare modern day expression of the traditional Byzantine/ Slavic Illuminated Gospel.

Illuminated manuscripts of the Bible, and particulary of the four Gospels have been produced since the earliest of Christian times. In the Byzantine tradition, such manuscripts, illustrated with small iconographic paintings, date back to the early fifth century. The oldest surviving Russian illuminated Bible is the Ostromir Lectionary, created in Kiev in 1056-57 for the Governor of Novgorod. Typical of the Russian stule, its illuminations are large in scale, somtimes filling whole pages.
